Twenty minutes later, they arrived at Playa Hermosa with its multiple rows of crude wood and palm-frond canopied huts, shading round tables with parents eating picnic lunches on the plank benches. Children played in the surf and built sandcastles along the tide line. Ryan inhaled the wonderful scent of wet sand and salt air. Instead of parking the motorcycle, he turned south and continued along a tiny sand road for another two and a half miles until it dead-ended in the dunes.

Saddle sore from the rough roads, both passenger and driver were more than thankful to see the Zodiac pulled up on the sand. They ran to it and helped Rick turn it around and push it into the surf. Rick started the powerful outboard, and they roared away from the beach.
